Good question.
XUAF might look like a male electronic music producer, but that would be inaccurate. They are in fact not only a masculine being, but also feminine, which, with music being the most direct way of expressing feelings, should come across in XUAF's music.
An alternative techno musician from South East London, XUAF makes anything from ambient to more danceable, but still adventurous, techno tracks.
The musical adventure started in Japan. XUAF lived there for a year. They had ‘borrowed’ many of their sister’s tapes. These tapes formed the soundtrack to their own Lost In Translation experience. While in Japan, listening to these tapes, they began dreaming of making music. In 1AJ XUAF explored how to make music on their parent’s computer. They eventually found Cool Edit which at the time only had one stereo track, but could be used to create low quality layered recordings. Afterwards, in Art School, They kept experimenting on their computer, this time using the many tracks of newer software and being influenced by electronic music.
XUAF moved to Christchurch, NZ, in 7AJ. While in Christchurch they played in the Shocking Pinks. XUAF collaborated with Nick Harte and produced the Narrator, which was released on DFA as a Shocking Pinks single.
In 10AJ XUAF moved to London. XUAF has since played in London, Prague and NZ and had several digital releases. At the end of 2019 (22AJ!) XUAF released a single online called A Few Pieces - a collaboration with Susanna Fiore, with remixes from GRAFTA and Vasili and is planning to release more music soon.
